What’s this plastic piece by the mirror on 2011 Navigator?

There's a small black plastic box right next to the rearview mirror on my 2011 Lincoln Navigator. Does anyone know what it's called or what it does? I'm trying to install a tint brow but I'm not sure if this thing can be removed safely.

Likely the rain/light sensor for the auto wipers and auto headlights. Its usually mounted to the windshield with adhesive and isn't meant to be removed, since it needs to stay in place to function properly. If you're installing a tint brow , just make sure not to cover it.

You definitely don't want to remove that box. It is not designed to be taken off easily, and you could damage the sensor or its wiring.
The standard procedure for a tint brow in this situation is to cut the tint around it. The best practice is to measure carefully and make sure the tint material doesn't cover or interfere with the sensor's operation. If you cover it, those automatic features will not work correctly.
